Entries from my Guest Book in MSN Spaces Live. Started Aug. 18, 2005

Sidewalks
Hey Steph!

Thanks for stopping by my Space...and congratulations! You have earned your place in the Sidewalk-Of-Fame! You got every secret identity right! (Although in the comic the Hulk's name is Bruce, but I'll except David because that's what they used in the TV show...I guess they didn't think Bill Bixby looked like a "Bruce".) And Alan Scott was the Green Lantern, but the show with Bruce Lee was "The Green Hornet"...a lot of people get them confused. (I'm a dork, I know.)

I've gotten a little lazy with my Space so I only blog about once a week. So sometime next week I'll add your name to the Sidewalk-Of-Fame and I'll let everyone know you won the "Identity Challenge". (You're the only one who made the effort!)

Your pictures from Hawaii are cool. So you guys made it to Giovanni's shrimp shack! We saw that too but it looked a little run down to us...plus we had just been to the pineapple plantation so we were both full of pineapple. Maybe next time we'll take a chance on the shrimp shack and add our name to the truck.

Thanks again for dropping by. Hope to see you again soon!August 01 12:26 AM(http://sidewalkLA.spaces.live.com/)

Hi Steph;
Thanks for stopping by and the comment.
Yes I grew up in Nampa, but lived in Idaho Falls for 3 years, we could see the Tetons from our kitchen windo and back yard, and I froze my ass off in the winter! We used to go feed bears vanilla wafers out the car windows in yellowstone too ha ha.

Emmet seemed like a nice town, I was there a few times long ago.
Nice to meet you! Stop by any time.

Thanks for stopping in Steph...the wife and really enjoy some of the wonderful people on spaces. Liked your hot jokes, but I'll save mine for another time. Who knows, I might just throw in some hillbilly speak from right here in east Tennessee. Rain, rain please come our way...its been 6 weeks since we had a drop. Our tress are gasping for air and our dogs have started swimming in their water bowl. I'm too old for this hot weather, but at least I don't have to mow my grass. Stay in touch.....J.W.L. Thanks for stopping in.

I've felt that I always had someone on my side ... My Mom ... so I try to be that for my kids. They already have one parent who doesn't stick up for them ... their dad. He always takes his wife's side over theirs. He's a jerk!

I do kick their butts if they need it. :)

Hey Steph...
I'm Sarah, nice to meet you (fellow next-generation-crazy-cat-lady!) Actually, I think haveing kids and friends automatically disqualifies us from that CATegory.
I got here thru KatSoup's space. Enjoyed looking around and especially loved the kitty photo album. I have a Romeo, too >^..^< href="http://orangebuttercat.spaces.live.com/" target="_blank" rel="nofollow">(http://orangebuttercat.spaces.live.com/)

Hi Steph,

My name's Nooner .. nice to greet you.
I followed a link from Mike M. I read a few of his blogs and saw you commented on a couple. It was the comical mention of you saying "I think I might be a Man .. I like to roll over and go to sleep" after sex that made me think I'd enjoy your humor .. lol.

David
Hey Steph!

Let's see if I can catch you up on what happened on Invasion. But first let me answer your question regarding what happen to the Sheriff's daughter. She was (as you mentioned) dragged to the water buy the psycho bitch and her boyfriend, but when she got thrown in the water the creatures spit her out. Seems they will only take "completely" healthy people and the sherriff's daughter had something wrong with her heart (I think) when she was born. So that tells you what happened to the daughter...
Now as for the psycho bitch and her boyfriend... they were taken bake to the island where a lot of them are holding up and Russell (Eddie Cibrian) and Dave (brother-in-law) they went to the island to find Zura but when they got there they saw Zura shoot psycho bitch in the head and the bf in the chest... dead, dead, dead, don't cha know!
Russell and Dave went looking for Zura after seeing the dead bodies and took the priest hostage (who's also on the island) and they called the Coast Guard to report Zura for murder but when the Coast Guard boated up to the beach where Russell and Dave were waiting... who was in the boat?? Zura!! Seems like the invasion is reaching the government.

Hope that fills you in a bit.... thanks for stopping by my Space and I look forward to seeing you again.April 24 3:09 PM(http://spaces.msn.com/spryster/)

Hi Steph, happened by your space and loved it. I'm just getting started putting my space together and decided to look at some of the others to get ideas. Why re-invent the wheel, right? I'm always trying to figure things out on my own and finally come to the conclusion at some point that a little help might make this a little easier:)

Have a great day,

Not sure how I got here but am glad I did.

In a induced coffee and chickory daze, but I did enjoy the space hope I can find my way back here.

Might be a good taste for state dependent learning.

i keep finding my way back here, i'm not sure how usually... this time it was through a spacer that walked over from your space.

thank goodness.

every time i come here i think.... gee, i need to come back when i have more time... then a.d.d. kicks in and as soon as i click away - i forget where the space was.

so, i finally outsmarted myself and linked you.

i'm so smart!

Not sure where else to put this - are you finding the sudden new format of spaces to make it pretty hard to do things you used to? I tried the search thing, and I get 'no results found' no matter what I enter. I would THINK that 'nice lady who inexplicably likes cats' should have brought me here - but noooo. I can't even find some of the comments that used to be there - can people have second thoughts? Change is rarely good, and this seems to be no exception...January 27 7:48 AM(http://spaces.msn.com/pastdue/)

Hey Steph... I kind of wrote about dreams on my "Fear Not " entry... Here you go...Have an awesome week Kitty!!! Meow!!! For every event that has occurred in our lives there is a thought. These thoughts produce feelings about our past and our future. Our feelings become our perceptions about life and others. Sometimes our perceptions can become so strong and real it can affect our behavior…Our outcomes in life. Wow...All of what I just said...Gave me an image of a small...little snowball starting to roll down a hill and by the time it gets to the bottom it is this big fast moving boulder. Not good... If that boulder represents bad thoughts...Look Out? Now...Our dreams while we sleep can be effected by our, thoughts, feelings, perceptions, our behavior, others behavior, what we watch, what we hear, and read. There are so many variables…You can add in past trauma, disappointments, failures, successes, etc… That is why it is so important to have a “relationship” with our Father God. When we focus on Him…His Word…It takes precedence over our situations. OH!!!! “To Know God…To have Jesus as Lord…Letting God’s Spirit Guide!” When I type about God…His goodness…When you read about what a Good God He is…How He Loves to hang out with us…I can feel His presence…I pray that you also all experience His presence. That’s where we can all shout…Amen! It’s not about religion… It never was…It’s about hanging out with Him. I started all this to write about dreams and I start praising God…Golly!!! We can go to bed at night and say…”God I want peaceful sleep…I want my thoughts to be on you…My sleep will be so peaceful, that each hour of sleep, will feel like two…Thank You Father…Amen (So be it)!January 23 9:23 AM(http://spaces.msn.com/members/BLOGQUEST/)

My girls are amazed on how I can predict within a day when the "CrAmP MoNsTeR" will show up. For instance...Emma was freaking on Saturday. I just looked at her while I was driving and calmly said..."You're going to start your period in about two days!" I walked into my living room this morning, Emma say's..."Dad, I woke up with the worst cramps last night!" I just smiled that smile (not because she was suffering), but you know... Emma say's..."I know Dad; I was just thinking how you figured that out?" On Saturday...She did not believe I knew what I was talking about. I told her..."Hey... 46, going on 47, married twice, and been around the block a few times. Trust me...dad knows!" OK...I'm building up the courage to meet your..."Wild and Crazy" friends...GregJanuary 16 1:52 PM(http://spaces.msn.com/members/BLOGQUEST/)

the last time that i had cats in the house there were twelve of them. nine of them were newborns. cute little boogers, if you like waking up to a terrorist attack every morning... when i would come home from work, as soon as i came through the door they would all converge on me and commence to climbing my jeans... that got old pretty quick!!! their father, a pitch black cat named smokey, had smartz enough to operate the front door... he would climb on the couch and bat the chain off, turn the knob and out he went. we ended up putting a dead bolt on the door to keep the cat in. a dead bolt on the door to keep the cat in... heard that much? smile!January 15 7:36 PM(http://spaces.msn.com/members/tarhead/)

Hey Steph...Three pounds down. Hmmm...I won't say how many more to go for my goal. My girls bless me in saying that I look fine...Sweethearts! Yes...The tough part is cooking for the kids. However, I have learned to buy things that they can prepare themselves. Every time I cook a big meal...Somebody wants something else or they are not hungry. It's the girls and their chocolate I need to stay away from. Other than that I eat pretty healthy...Just need to give up pizza. Also…Dusting off and hopping on my exercise bike more often will help also…January 07 5:56 PM(http://spaces.msn.com/members/BLOGQUEST/)

Don't forget to clean the litter box... I forgot about these questions... Minnesota too cold... Hmmm..Florida, Alabama...Too many hurricanes and I was right... You know...I talked to someone the other week and they said I was being too easy on her and making excuses for her poor decesions. Maybe that allows me to forgive... See ya when....You stop by my side of the Blog Universe...GregDecember 29 7:16 PM(http://spaces.msn.com/members/BLOGQUEST/)

Couple of questions, you said in a answer to mad dad that you considered your injury a reason for your divorce... why is that? After being in this (my) area of the US, how did you end up or decide on Missouri? I know I'll have more questions for ya, just so you're prepared... that's just me, if I want to know, I ask. lol BIG HUGS ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 1st...Divorce...Married a flight attendant...Emma born...I grew up, she still wanted to party. 2nd...Divorce...Great wife...After my accident she was never the same, antidepressants, and are you setting down...She left me and the children for a 17 year old class mate of my daughters. So...You see I have two major testimonies. God has sustained me through it all. Missouri came about...Because, Minnesota is too cold, my parents still live there, Branson good place to live for a few years for education for Emilee, Jade's music career (If she wants), and JR (He loves his mother) but her lifestyle is like that of Mary Kay Letourneau, so we had to leave Oregon. I should have adopted Dono and Jade was old enough to make her own decesion to leave her mother. What can I say...It's a made for TV movie or a Jerry Springer episode...Gee Whiz...Oh well!!! I'm debating whether to put my full testimony on my Blog. Some already do not believe in my healing...But, I guess that goes with the territory. HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS :-D GregDecember 22 4:10 PM(http://spaces.msn.com/members/BLOGQUEST/)

Steph... I lift up your son in prayer and all that know you and your family...That Jesus is Lord. We lean not upon our own understanding but are led by your Spirit Father God for Your Divine Will over this situation. That Father God Your Will...shall be done. I speak Your Blood Lord Jesus that you shed on the cross over Stephanie's son. It covers him from the top of his head to the soles of his feet. No weaponed formed against him shall prosper. Thank You Father for hearing our prayers...In Jesus Name...AmenDecember 18 8:49 PM(http://spaces.msn.com/members/BLOGQUEST/)

Hi Steph! I just wandered in from bored Barbara's blog... nice space you have here! I was looking at your cat pics and your Molly looks just like our Cleo. And I was laughing at one of your pics of a cat (Diva maybe?) in what looked like a bird's nest with eggs in it... but then duhhhh me... I realized they were rocks, not eggs, lol! Do you actually have alllll those kitties now?!? I can just imagine what state *your* Christmas tree must be in (if you have one, that is)! I have three cats and mine is just ragged after only a few days up (although that's mostly thanks to Jazz... the 3-month-old kitten who practically lives *in* the tree!). Have a wonderful, happy holiday! Susan (Indigo)December 16 11:30 PM(http://spaces.msn.com/members/Indig0/)

Good evening... I've been watching those webcams in the NW. As for Trout Lake...I lived about 11 miles from there and it was a great place to go and enjoy the scenery and look at Mt. Hood. One of the nicest things about living on the mountain was to keep the windows open on the house in the summer. The fresh sweet smelling air was incredible. I also had the Sandy River running behind my home and you could hear the water flowing over the rocks. Memories I will never forget...Have a wonderful weekend...GregDecember 03 8:23 PM(http://spaces.msn.com/members/BLOGQUEST/)

Not sure where I shd respond to your visits - but thanks for the comments - seems like everybody shares my crayola thing - what IS it about them? Less than 5 yrs after I moved from the $135 place it sold for $100K and was torn down. Man that was a 'lost' year - everybody shd have one - Complete irresponsibilty (but girls were safe there - nothing ever got to really nasty behavior) - well, one roomie shot thru the floor at me once when he had a hangover and I was banging around singing and dancing - these things happen. Our parties got busted EVERY week. Awesome. Robert B Parker writes tough guy detective (but chivalrous with a heart of gold). His detective is Spenser (usually); he also has a female one Sonny somthing who was married to a mobster's son and a middle age alkie who is a chief of police. All are in/near Boston. Spenser's best friend is a totally stone cool black dude with awesome abilities. If that sounds good, you'll like him, if not you probably won't. His girlfriend is a shrink. If you like him there are a lot of his books - don't you love it when you find something good and they've written a zillion books?October 29 7:31 PM(http://spaces.msn.com/members/pastdue/)

Worse - a very rich Republican. Made it home for the b'day yes, but that was in 1963 - so the thrill is gone. Sorry you mentioned tasting rabbit, I had blocked that. Actually I ate some during that hitching hegira when I stayed with this somewhat unusual family. They were really into the gourmet experience, and had some, but happily they cooked it with some chicken, and the flavors swapped and chicken won. Even though I never saw a chicken drumstick shaped like that before or since, i kept saying to myself over and over, "This is chicken, this is chicken". You know how it is when you try to eat something without letting it touch your tongue? And follow each swallow with a huge gollop of pepsi or milk or sulphuric acid (the last-named is best; even if the stuff has touched your tongue, you stop caring)? Man I have pepsied my way thru some nasty stuff in my time. It's a wonder I can still drink it...October 29 2:27 PM(http://spaces.msn.com/members/pastdue/)

LOL David, well, I figured since you are alive to tell the tale that things went well. I'm interested to hear about your 16.50. I once spent 2 weeks in Europe with only 150.00 to my name, but, I was on a cruise and didn't have to worry about food. Sorry to hear about your youngest brother, your Mom must be a strong lady. A Republican huh? (Still laughing over that one) Glad you made it home for your Birthday. BIG HUGS, StephOctober 29 1:48 PM(http://spaces.msn.com/members/kittyscattitude/)

I am coming here to thank you for the tip on pasting in my blog. Today I did that, and now my ones of readers will no longer be disappointed and can find how how my $16.50 lasted. Or not. You know, I guess you are right about a parent's worst nightmare (actually it isn't - my mother wasn't spared the real worst one, either - my youngest brother was killed at age 12 by a drunk driver) but your point is taken that I sure wasn't thinking of her at the time. Poor Mom, maybe it is such trials that have let her reach age 89 without any diminishment of strength and agility. I had seven younger brothers and a sister (but, sadly, she turned Republican), so this was only one of Mom's many nightmarish experiences. She just told my brothers, "Oh, he'll be home for his birthday", and I was: I arrived home on Aug 24 - over 2 months later!October 29 8:24 AM(http://spaces.msn.com/members/pastdue/)

You always have me laughing, and that's a good thing. lol Hi Reg, Nice to meet you, and I'm enjoying your space. Kay pointed me in your direction, said you make her laugh, that's big points in my book. A custody arrangement huh? I'm sure we can work something out, (wink) lmao I was tired and feeling goofy so it was fun helping you, glad I could. I've submitted the judge judy blow up doll for the top 10. If i win a mouse pad from the Late Show, we'll have to work out a custody sharing agreement. Maybe a month on , a month off. We'll work it out. I won a tshirt several years ago, but it went missing after about a year....i think i left it at Bart's cabin at Whistler, but i'm not certain. Thanks for stopping by !! see you again soon. ReggieOctober 18 11:40 PM(http://spaces.msn.com/members/whitecottonboxers/)

Kitty/Steph I'm looking for a jester or related, what I had was a jesters head on a jack in the box, it was awesome but it belonged to the man who does all the artwork for "The Fairly Odd Parents" cartoons, so as you can see thats a no no for my needs cause I don't need to be sued, ha ha ha, My Logo or Slogan is "Amateur Poet and Professional Fool" And I also don't want to have spaces.msn.com or google.blogspot.com used so I don't ever have to go through this again should I ever remove my content from either site, I may win the lotto someday and want to start my own website if the censorship gets any worse, but I do enjoy making copy's of both the humor and poetry sites for the people who like my craft, but can't afford a computer, especially the shut-ins in and around my neighborhood, the keep kids off the street programs etc... Which I may have to stop doing anyway due to the rising cost of materials, the Tee-shirt give aways are getting expensive, especially with me out of work and the second refusal of my social security disability claims, but I want to keep making my little magazines as I call them... Thanks For Your Help and/or Concern in Advance... MikeyOctober 16 12:28 PM(http://spaces.msn.com/members/ivegotstuffinmyhead/)

Hello, hello there! Thanks so much for your comment, I am VERY pleased that you actually took the time to READ the entry instead of posting some stuff about "just passing through." That tends to make me a little sad after I pour so much time into making a blog. hehehe, your cockroach story? YOU'RE NOT ALONE! I had the same thing happen to me once while minding my own business. As you can imagine, it scared me to death. I am looking forward to that blog too, I'm not quite sure how it will whip up, but I'm sure I'll get the eebie jeebies a few times during its creation. ;-) I plan on coming back and reading more on your travels! Thanks again, and hope to see you again soon. eB :)October 06 1:30 PM(http://spaces.msn.com/members/ebunzz/)

Thanks Touly, I know they are. I have friends who are Canadian, one is very dear to me. I'd never tell Ziggy, but I do feel bad for him, so much anger and hate. I kind of understand though, been there myself, but I was much younger, and learned the hard way how short life is, and how being angry just isn't worth it. I enjoy your space, even Ziggy. LOL He can think and say what he wants, it's his right, as it is mine. I always respect that. Things would be boring as hell if we all agreed. Sometimes I enjoy playing devils advocate. But I'll deny that later. LOL Again, I enjoy your space. Thanks!October 05 10:26 PM(http://spaces.msn.com/members/kittyscattitude/)

Hi Ladybug, Makes you wonder doesn't it? Why would he go to all that trouble, just to up and disappear on her. Doesn't even make sense. Sheesh! We all do learn, sad as it is. It really does make you very cautious and careful. Yeah, I was a huge Kevin Smith fan, I could eat that man up!!!!!!!!!!!! He died in 2002, it was a fall from I guess about 6 stories high. He was in China, I believe learning some stunts for an upcoming movie. If you do a google search with, Kevin Smith Ares dies, you can read more about it. They set up a fund to help his wife and 3 young children. Thanks for stopping by, gonna go check out your space! I tried to leave a comment under the Sexy men and Women entry but every time I did, I just got a huge blank screen. I used to watch Hercules and Xena ALL the time and how the heck did I miss the fact that Kevin Smith died!? He was the hottest. Loved his character. What the heck happened? Also about the online death...Had a similar experience...not online death but a man had my best friend (and me) convinced that they would end up together forever. Now My friend is the most cautious and not easily fooled. This guy had daily phone conversations with her, sent presents to her and her daughter and also went out of his way to charm and assure her best friend (me) that he was on the level. My friend and her daughter even had their passports to go visit him (he lived in England) Then he just dropped off the face of the earth. Never heard from again. It was very weird and disconcerting to think that we had both been so completely taken in. We all learn though. It will never happen again.September 12 4:51 PM(http://spaces.msn.com/members/ladybugjc/)

Online Crap, those who crave attention. Published, Aug 16,2005

I got my first computer in 1999. I was so excited, now I could do my taxes online, send emails, and surf the net at my leisure. I had no idea how addicting and fun it could be. Summer of 2000, I was bored one night and looking for games to play online. I came across Pogo (www.pogo.com) it's a game site, you can play and chat with other people. I loved it! Over the years I've met online and in real life some very good people, but, I've come across some really sad and sick ones too. Here are a few stories, and like dragnet, the names have been changed to protect the innocent, and the stupid!

Lesson #1, Those that crave attention...
"Sandy"from the UK, was a woman that frequented a certain room that I spent a lot of time in too. She was online friends with many of the regulars. Her story starts. We were all pet lovers, she said she had all kinds of pets, ferrets, chinchillas, cats, dogs, birds etc. Then she told us she was pregnant... then she was pregnant with twins! For awhile it was all she would talk about. Well she came online one day and told us that she had been in an accident and lost the twins. She was online everyday accepting the sympathy and well wishes of those in the room. (That should have said something to us there) Not too long after that, she started telling us her husband was abusing her. Again, these caring people worried and counseled her. She finally said she was going to make her husband leave and get a divorce. She said he left, but kept coming back and beating on her, and once brought his Mother who pushed Sandy down the stairs and broke her arm. Not long after that, she told us she had a new man in her life. We got to 'talk' to him through her account and the one he made for himself. She was in love! But, again, tragedy strikes.... something was wrong, she was bleeding internally or something like that, and was going to have surgery. I missed the next part, but was filled in, she had come online after 'surgery' and said that she had died on the table, been gone for like 5 minutes and come back to life. She was then released from the hospital like a day later. lol One night soon after that I was talking to her online. She was telling me that something was wrong, she was bleeding to death. On the off chance she was telling me the truth, I kept telling her to call for help, she wouldn't, but stayed online and would tell me every few minutes how she was bleeding and getting colder, that she was going to die. At the very last minute, her 'boyfriend' came to her house, he 'spoke' to me and asked what was going on. I told him to take her to the hospital. He supposedly did and saved her life. I think that was one of the final straws. We had people in our room that were medical professionals, and started to question her. When the shit finally settled, here is what we knew... she had never been pregnant, big doubts on even having a husband, let alone an abusive one, no new man in her life, it was her (accounts are easy to make) and the surgery had been a big story too. Why? Because the people in the room were kind and caring, taking her at her word. I did too. Some people crave attention so much, they are willing to trade on the goodness/kindness of others. Because we no longer believed her, and she couldn't get the strokes and attention she needed, she left that room, changed her player name and moved on to another.....

Hmmm good question. Published Aug 13, 2005

Some of my favorite email/jokes. Published Aug 9, 2005

I have to visit Australia one of these days. They seem to have a great sense of humor! Two of my favorite emails come from Australia.... Here's the first one... (My friends tell me i'm a smartass, lol I salute you Australia!)
Australian Tourism
The questions below about Australia are from potential visitors. They were posted on an Australian Tourism Website and the answers are the actual responses by the website officials, who obviously have a sense of humor.
Q: Does it ever get windy in Australia? I have never seen it rain on TV, how do the plants grow? (UK)
A: We import all plants fully grown and then just sit around watching them die.
Q: Will I be able to see kangaroos in the street? (USA)
A: Depends on how much you've been drinking.
Q: I want to walk from Perth to Sydney-- can I follow the railroad tracks? (Sweden)
A: Sure, it's only three thousand miles--take lots of water.
Q: Is it safe to run around in the buses in Australia? (Sweden)
A: So, it's true what they say about Swedes...
Q: Are there any ATMs (cash machines) in Australia? Can you send me a list of them in Brisbane, Caims, Townsville and Hervey Bay? (UK)
A: What did your last slave die of?
Q: Can you give me some information about hippo racing in Australia? (USA)
A: A-fri-ca is the big triangle shaped continent south of Europe. Aus-tra-lia is that big island in the middle of the Pacific which does not--Oh forget it. Sure, the hippo racing is every Tuesday night in Kings Cross. Come naked.
Q: Which direction is North in Australia? (USA)
A: Face south and then turn 180 degrees. Contact us when you get here and we'll send the rest of the directions.
Q: Can I bring cutlery into Australia? (UK)
A: Why? Just use your fingers like we do.
Q: Can you send me the Vienna Boy's Choir schedule?(USA)
A: Aus-tri-a is that quaint little country bordering Ger-man-y, which is..... Oh forget it. Sure, the Vienna Boys Choir plays every Tuesday night in Kings Cross, straight after the hippo races. Come naked.
Q: Can I wear high heels in Australia? (UK)
A: You are a British politician, right?
Q: Are there supermarkets in Sydney and is milk available all year round? (Germany)
A: No, we are a peaceful civilization of vegan hunter/gatherers. Milk is illegal.
Q: Please send a list of all doctors in Australia who can dispense rattlesnake serum. (USA)
A: Rattlesnakes live in A-meri-ca which is where YOU come from. All Australian snakes are perfectly harmless, can be safely handled and make good pets.
[FYI, something like nine of the world's eleven most venomous varieties of snakes are in Australia...]
Q: I have a question about a famous animal in Australia, but I forget its name. It's a kind of bear and lives in trees (USA)
A: It's called a Drop Bear. They are so called because they drop out of Gum trees and eat the brains of anyone walking underneath them. You can scare them off by spraying yourself with human urine before you go out walking.
Q: Do you have perfume in Australia? (France)
A: No. WE don't stink.
Q: I have developed a new product that is a fountain of youth. Can you tell me where I can sell it in Australia? (USA)
A: Anywhere significant numbers of Americans gather.
Q: Can you tell me the regions in Tasmania where the female populations is smaller than the male population (Italy)
A: Yes, gay nightclubs
Q: Do you celebrate Christmas in Australia? (France)
A: Only at Christmas.
Q: I was in Australia in 1969 on R&R, and I want to contact the girl I dated while I was staying in Kings Cross.. Can you help? (USA)
A: Yes, and you will still have to pay her by the hour.
Q: Will I be able to speak English most places I go? (USA)
A: Yes, but you'll have to learn it first.

Here's number 2.....
Subject: Pilots Gripe Sheet
After every flight, pilots fill out a form called a gripe sheet, which conveys to the mechanics problems encountered with the aircraft during the flight that need repair or correction. The mechanics read and correct the problem, and then respond in writing on the lower half of the form what remedial action was taken, and the pilot reviews the gripe sheets before the next flight. Never let it be said that ground crews and engineers lack a sense of humour. Here are some actual logged maintenance complaints and problems as submitted by Qantas
pilots and the solution recorded by maintenance engineers.
(P = The problem logged by the pilot.)
(S = The solution and action taken by the engineers.)

P: Left inside main tire almost needs replacement.
S: Almost replaced left inside main tire

P: Test flight OK, except auto-land very rough.
S: Auto-land not installed on this aircraft.

P: Something loose in cockpit.
S: Something tightened in cockpit.

P: Dead bugs on windshield.
S: Live bugs on back-order.

P: Autopilot in altitude-hold mode produces a 200 feet per minute descent.
S: Cannot reproduce problem on ground.

P: Evidence of leak on right main landing gear.
S: Evidence removed.

P: DME volume unbelievably loud.
S: DME volume set to more believable level.

P: Friction locks cause throttle levers to stick.
S: That's what they're there for.

P: IFF inoperative.
S: IFF always inoperative in OFF mode.

P: Suspected crack in windshield.
S: Suspect you're right.

P: Number 3 engine missing.
S: Engine found on right wing after brief search.

P: Aircraft handles funny.
S: Aircraft warned to straighten up, fly right, and be serious.

P: Target radar hums.
S: Reprogrammed target radar with lyrics.

P: Mouse in cockpit.
S: Cat installed.

P: Noise coming from under instrument panel. Sounds like a midget
pounding on something with a hammer.
S: Took hammer away from midget.

And on last one from the USA. I get motion sick really easy, so, this man not only got my laughs, but my sympathy as well! I already knew that about bananas! lol Enjoy! Steph

Subject: Ride in a Jet Below is an article written by Rick Reilly for Sports Illustrated. He details his experiences when given the opportunity to fly in a F-14 Tomcat .... very amusing. Now this message for America's most famous athletes: Someday you may be invited to fly in the back-seat of one of your country's most powerful fighter jets. Many of you already have *********John Elway, John Stockton, Tiger Woods to name a few. If you get this opportunity, let me urge you, with the greatest sincerity ..... Move to Guam. Change your name. Fake your own death. Whatever you do, do not go. I know. The U.S. Navy invited me to try it. I was thrilled. I was pumped. I was toast! I should've known when they told me my pilot would be Chip (Biff) King of Fighter Squadron 213 at Naval Air Station Oceana in Virginia Beach. Whatever you're thinking a Top Gun named Chip (Biff) King looks like, triple it. He's about six-foot, tan, ice-blue eyes, wavy surfer hair, finger-crippling handshake. The kind of man who wrestles dyspeptic alligators in his leisure time. If you see this man, run the other way... fast. Biff King was born to fly. His father, Jack King, was for years the voice of NASA missions. ("T-minus 15 seconds and counting...." Remember?) Chip would charge neighborhood kids a quarter each to hear his dad count down for them. Jack would wake up from naps surrounded by nine-year-olds waiting for him to say, "We have a liftoff." Biff was to fly me in an F-14D Tomcat, a ridiculously powerful $60 million weapon with as much thrust as weight. I was worried about getting airsick, so the night before the flight I asked Biff if there was something I should eat the next morning. "Bananas," he said. "For the potassium?" ! I asked. "No," Biff said, "because they taste about the same coming up as they do going down." The next morning, out on the tarmac, I had on my flight suit with my name sewn over the left breast. (No call sign-like Crash or Sticky or Leadfoot but, still, very cool.) I carried my helmet in the crook of my arm, as Biff had instructed. A fighter pilot named Psycho gave me a safety briefing and then fastened me into my ejection seat, which, when employed, would "egress" me out of the plane at such a velocity that I would be immediately knocked unconscious. Just as I was thinking about aborting the flight, the canopy closed over me, and Biff gave the ground crew a thumbs-up. In minutes we were firing nose up at 600 mph. We leveled out and then canopy-rolled over another F-14. Those 20 minutes were the rush of my life. Unfortunately, the ride lasted 80. It was like being on the roller coaster at Six Flags Over Hell. Only without rails. We did barrel rolls, sap rolls, loops, yanks and banks. We dived, rose and dived again, sometimes with a vertical velocity of 10,000 feet per minute. We chased another F-14, and it chased us. We broke the speed of sound. Sea was sky and sky was sea. Flying at 200 feet we did 90-degree turns at 550 mph, creating a G force of 6.5, which is to say I felt as if 6.5 times my body weight was smashing against me. And I egressed the bananas. I egressed the pizza from the night before. And the lunch before that. I egressed a box of Milk Duds from the sixth grade. I made Linda Blair look polite. Because of the G's, I was egressing stuff that did not even want to be egressed. I went through not one airsick bag, but two. Biff said I passed out. Twice. I was coated in sweat. At one point, as we were coming in upside down in a banked curve on a mock bombing target and the G's were flattening me like a tortilla and I was in and out of consciousness, I realized I was the first person in history to throw down. I used to know cool. Cool was Elway throwing a touchdown pass, or Norman making a five-iron bite. But now I really know cool. Cool is guys like Biff, men with cast-iron stomachs and Freon nerves. I wouldn't go up there again for Derek Jeter's black book, but I'm glad Biff does every day, and for less money per year than a rookie reliever makes in a home stand. A week later, when the spins finally stopped, Biff called. He said he and the fighters had the perfect call sign for me. Said he'd send it on a patch for my flight suit. What is it? I asked. "Two Bagger."

BIG HUGS, Steph

Advice-For-Dummies
Just stopping by to say hi!August 14 3:38 PM(http://spaces.msn.com/members/AdviceForDummies/)

Stories of my travels, published Aug 9, 2005, in MSN Spaces Live

I've been blessed to have traveled, almost everywhere I've ever wanted to. I'll get to the Orient, one of these days.

I went to Europe when I was 21. It was something I'd always dreamed about. What made it even more special, I flew first class. I'd never been on a flight that long, and had no idea that I was gonna get so sick, and my feet were gonna swell up like balloons! The flight was great, the food even better. I gotta say I was kinda nervous going up into the lounge and seeing the pilot taking a nap. lol We landed at Gatwick, and took a bus to Heathrow. The drive was gorgeous. It was the end of May and everything was lush green. So beautiful and soothing. I was with a group and we had the whole day in London because of a mix up. I took the 'tube' and spent most of my day in Harrods, which was like a shoppers Disneyland! I walked my butt off, and saw as much as I possibly could, and still make it back for the night flight they had us on to Lyon, France.
I was really sick the whole flight, spent time in the bathroom... LOTS of time in the bathroom. When it came time to get ready to land. I went and tried to sit down, buckle up etc. but I was gonna be sick again. We weren't actually landing, so, I got up and ran to the bathroom (again) thing is this one flight attendant who had been a pain most of the flight, not just to me but to our group.... OK, OK, so we were a fun loving bunch. lol Well she blocked the bathroom door. I told her, I'm gonna be sick!! (as I reached for the door handle) She wouldn't let me open the door. I said again, I'm gonna be sick! I got the handle and started to open it, and she moved in front of me to block my entrance..... and well, I threw up on her. It wasn't planned, but hell! I apologize to Air France for the mess, but not to her! She moved and let me continue being sick without any more of her 'lovely' company. I didn't see her as we disembarked, nor was I really looking for her.
We took a bus from Lyon to Nice, but it was night and I can't say I saw much. In Nice we were going aboard a ship, a cruise from Nice to the Algarve and Lisbon in Portugal, then up past the Rock of Gibraltar and into the English Channel. I spent our day in Nice, mostly enjoying the hotel bed! Oh, and the novelty of having a bidet. lol
I found out that I had left my camera back home. I had a suitcase full of film and no camera. Since money was so tight I couldn't really buy one either. I had come on a two week vacation, knowing that since the majority of it was on board a cruise ship that I would have all my meals taken care of. For the whole two weeks I had 150.00 dollars. So, since I knew I wouldn't have any pictures to remind me of this trip. I started collecting other momentous, menus, schedules, postcards, business cards of 'kind' gentlemen. lol
The ship was huge, from the P&O line. I had a room to myself, and a little balcony. I was on B deck, A, being the top one. The crew, my stewards, and waiters, were so wonderful! The food was great the whole time. Our group had a brunch with the Captain one day, and at that I found a little bit of heaven on earth, in food form... Curry! lol
Our first stop in Portugal was the Algarve region. I took a small boat ride to land, and a bus up to a little village. I can't even remember the name of the village. It was really small, and I spent the day walking around, buying a few souvenirs. I picked up an admirer along the way. A young man that decided he was in love with me. lol At least that's what he kept saying, (was probably the only English he knew) so, at least I wasn't alone for the whole afternoon. lol When it came time to hop a bus to get back down to the docks, I gently scraped him off my leg and told him I'd had a fun afternoon, and for him to go home! I calmly got on the bus, went and sat down, only to look around and notice, that I didn't see a familiar face and I was on the wrong damn bus! So, I got off (he was still there) and found the right one, and told him good bye again. lol So much for my dignified exit.
Our next stop was Lisbon. Another young lady was interested in an organized tour that morning, so I went with her. We hit all the major spots of interest. The carriage museum, the cathedral where Vasco da Gama is buried, the Port wine institute, a beautiful indoor garden, tons of statues, the tribute to all the explorers that came out of Portugal, etc. We had the rest of the day to ourselves. Let me say, I'm half Portuguese, and it was a fun experience seeing people who reminded me of my Dad's side of the family. I was wearing a spaghetti strap sun dress, and quickly found that was not considered modest. I crossed the street behind a huge military truck filled with soldiers, and for a second there I thought I was gonna be pulled in! The comments and behavior were unexpected, my Dads family are very reserved, and proper. Now if it had been in Italy, (my Mom's side) I would have expected it! lol First thing I did was find a nice little shop and buy a sweater to wear. The day went smoothly after that... well kind of. We got lost! I've never been lost any place I've traveled, but in the maze of winding streets, we got lost! We walked for what seemed hours, I remember hearing an Opera singer practicing, Piano music, sounds of their everyday lives. We finally found a small store that specialized in tiles and some one who spoke a little bit of English. The young lady that was with me had had enough. Her feet were killing her and we split up. She went back to the ship and I decided I must have a masochistic streak, and I continued exploring. As it was I barely made it back on board, but have a few lovely momentous and memories that were worth it.
The Rock of Gibraltar was awesome. I was puking over the rail as we cruised by. Did I mention, I found out I'm not a good sailor? The night we went thru the English Channel it was really rough, I spent the night in the bathroom, and was soooo happy when we docked!
A bunch of us took a taxi to our hotel, we had tickets to see a play that night, but one of the group leaders got us together, if a few of us wanted to fly home that night, we could, and fly first class. The rest were leaving the next day, coach, but the flight had been overbooked. I volunteered, I'm no dummy!
I flew from Heathrow to Seattle. I remember flying over Greenland, but slept most of the way. I made it home with 9.00 dollars and change in my pocket, pretty darn good! The one thing I did lose, my red lace bra. It disappeared my last day on board ship.....i'm hoping that whichever steward took it, that he kept it as a memento and not because he enjoys wearing it! lol

Seattle:
I love spending a weekend in Seattle. Pikes place market, the small restaurants that have wonderful food, the abundance of talented artists, Chinatown, being on the water, the ferry's, the guy that would be on my way to breakfast every Sunday morning, forgetting that he had told me his Vietnam story a week ago, just the whole atmosphere. I love exploring a city. One weekend I was staying at the Westin, and was in the elevator going up to my room. It stopped to let some one on. The doors opened and about 5 or more huge black men got on. They were big and really tall! I made some stupid chit chat, I was amazed at their size! lol I'm not a huge sports fan, so I had no idea, but they were the basketball team from Houston, the Rockets. My husband about had a fit when he found out I had met them, and not asked for autographs. Oh well, lol

Hi, I'm Stephanie,
I love, cats, bonsai, roses, gardening, reading, painting, antiques, graphics, my friends, family, traveling, etc etc. I really appreciate intelligent, funny, honest people.
I live in a desert area. Summer's are really hot, in fact today we are 102/3, depending on which news guy you believe. Anyone have a spare air conditioner they want to donate? LOL I'm glad I don't live in Arizona, or near Death Valley. How do you people cope? I'd never leave the house. I'd become a total shut in during the summer.

(belated) Saturday Eye Candy

Viggo for Laurie...

Steve Reeves, a legend in bodybuilding, once the highest paid actor in Italy. He was born in Montana but grew up in California.

Yul Brynner, Charleton Heston,
John Derek, Steve Reeves again, John Derek, again, Jeff Chandler, a movie star, but, did you know, (trivia time) that he was the inspiration for Race Bannon of "Johnny Quest"?, Cary Grant, Errol Flynn, Jeff Chandler again, Errol Flynn, again.

I've always loved movies. Especially old ones, so this "Eye Candy" tribute is to all the Men who made my heart flutter as I was growing up. Some were long dead, but it didn't matter. That's the magic of movies.

Like a Musical... or something!

When she came home, I asked my youngest daughter how she liked the movie.
She said it was terrible, and one of the stupidest movies she'd ever seen. I asked why was it so bad?
The reply, "They sang everything, even when they should have been talking.... it was like a MUSICAL or something!

Ummm that's because it IS a musical....

"OH"

lol Sorry "Dream Girls" the pre-teen set just doesn't seem to appreciate ya.

Sunrise,... Sunset, and buy stock in Kleenex

This is for anyone who has children, grown or not, who has to deal with not having them live with or near you.
My question... how do you deal with it?
My youngest son is moving to another state, and I'm having a terrible time with it. I'm close to my children, especially my boys, because when they were little it was just us 3 doing everything together. Hubby was too busy at work. In fact he would tell us that work came before we did.
So, I made sure we did fun things together, went places, etc.
Now he's moving, and it's far away. I miss him already. I guess I just need time to mourn his passing into adulthood, but damn, I wish he was passing into it closer to where we live.
Any advice? BIG HUGS, and pass me a box of tissues, Steph

A New Year

Do you make resolutions? I don't. I see too many that never get fulfilled. It is a nice way to remind you about all the things you should be doing, but aren't. Who knows, maybe my resolution will to one day make a resolution. lol
In many ways, last year, 2006, was a good year for me, for my kids. We had a few very scary times, but, on the whole it was good.
We went to Southern California, Disneyland, Knotts, Seal Beach, etc. All of my children were with me except my oldest. I'm hoping that he gets to come next time. (We go every 2 years)
We had Wes, one of my younger son's best friends, with us, and had a great time.
I got to show my girls a little bit of San Fransisco, (China Town), I wish we had more time while there. Maybe this spring.
After almost 20 years, I got to visit my beloved Hawaii. It was just the island of Oahu, (my favorite is Kauai), but I had a wonderful time! The beauty, and people feed my soul. I'm not going to wait that long to go back.
I had a little Grandson born way too early, but, as of now is up to 3 & 1/2 lbs, learning to nurse, and growing strong with each passing day. I have had many wonderful people praying for him, sending good thoughts and love. I'm so thankful for all of you!
Yes, last year was good, so I have great expectations for this coming year.
2007 will be even better! BIG HUGS, Steph
